Tips on how to do Product Photography & Some of our favs
Product photography is an essential aspect of marketing and selling products online. Whether you're a small business owner or a professional photographer, taking high-quality photos of your products can help to showcase their features and attract your ideal clients.
Here are some tips of our tips for doing product photography:
Use a tripod: A tripod will help to keep your camera steady and reduce camera shake, which can result in blurry or distorted photos. It also creates consistency if you’re doing more than one product in the same setting.
Choose the right lighting: Proper lighting is crucial for product photography.
We love using natural window light but you can easily mimic that with a softbox. I personally love using a white shoot through umbrella!
Consider your background: The background of your product photos should be simple and uncluttered. A plain white or neutral colored background is a good choice for most products. I also like using texture fabrics or even tiles from Home Depot to create a more luxurious look.
Edit your photos: Even if you take a great photo, you may need to make some edits to enhance the overall image. At Melrose Marketing Studio, we love to brighten up the whites, make the colours more vibrant and darken the blacks. This makes for a more appealing and interesting photo. Of course, if you brand has different style of edits, use that to keep it consistent!
Take multiple shots: It's a good idea to take several photos of each product from different angles. This will give you a variety of images to choose from and allow you to showcase different features of the product. It also helps the viewer, your client, envision what the product is like in their hand before making a purchase.
By following these tips, you can create professional-quality product photos that will help to showcase your products and attract potential customers. Take a look at some of our favourite small product photography by Emmeline Guerrero below!
