Should YOU be on Threads?? (Instagram’s newest app)

Threads is a new app created by the same folks who run Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. It's basically Twitter but through Instagram… haha. It's like when IG copied Snapchat and created Instagram Stories.

 

So the question you're probably thinking is… should I be on Threads now too??

 

And here's our hot take at this very moment - in terms of what the actual ROI (return on investment) is - it's too early to tell. The app only launched hours ago! We're just not sure yet if Threads is going to stick how Instagram stories did, which are now an incredibly powerful tool to connect and sell, or phase out like Instagram Notes or Guides did (anyone else remember guides that were around for .2 seconds??).

 

And while we don't know if Threads is going to stick or flop, here's what we do know:

 

  • When Instagram introduces any new feature (think back to stories, reels, trending audios, carousel posts) - it's good to hop on using the feature early because the algorithm favours it, offering potential for wider reach! Instagram loves when we use all of their features, because after all, their goal is to have us using their app for as long as possible. What better way to keep us logged in than to launch new features? On top of that, when we actually use them, we encourage others to do the same and it causes a ripple effect. That's why Instagram will favour your account if you do!

  • Back in 2016 when IG stories launched, everyone said it was a copy of Snapchat and that they wouldn't stick. Fast forward to now, IG stories are one of the most powerful ways to connect 1:1 with your audience and make sales. Threads has the potential to do the same.

  • Threads is a great opportunity for you to connect even further with your audience on a more casual level. It can also be a great opportunity to promote new products/offers in a way that's different from traditional Instagram posts.

  • Hopping onto the app early will show your audience that you are always ahead of curves and on top of trends!

  • When you start early, you have a great chance at growing your following and receiving a lot of engagement. Remember when TikTok became really popular in 2020? A lottttt of creators who hopped on early now have millions of followers and are full-time content creators! Similarly, a lot of YouTube vloggers who started a decade ago were able to grow their following easily and organically. They started creating at the right time.

  • Post to Threads 2x daily (business days - M-Th)

    • These posts are casual - sharing thoughts, quotes, asking your audience questions, promoting your latest ig reels/posts, starting conversations

  • Engage with 1 Thread daily (like and/or comment)

  • Keep you up-to-date on all trends and data and adjusting our strategy as we learn more.
