Hello friends!!
It’s Tayler here and I am back with another blog post. Today I am going to share with you a few tips on how to increase your Instagram Reel views!
The Instagram algorithm is constantly changing, and it can be hard to keep up. When Instagram first started, likes and comments were everything! Now, Instagram is favouring posts with high engagement through saves, shares, and comments. Likes aren’t as important. Instagram is also really pushing their newest feature, reels! This is the number one way to grow on Instagram right now.
So what does this mean for content creators?
We have to make reels that provide value, content that someone would save and refer back to, and content that people would send to their friends.
How do we do that?
1. Create a reel that your viewers will have to play more than once.
First of all, reels can only be up to 30 seconds long. You can definitely pack a lot into those 30 seconds, but it isn’t too much time! Some people look at this as a barrier, but the time limit can actually be your best friend. When you are providing value in a short amount of time, your video is probably going to be fast paced. Meaning your viewers will likely have to play it more than once to get all the information – do you see what I’m getting at here? If you pack a lot of value into a short, fast paced video, people will want to play it more than once. That being said, try to stick to one point/topic instead of trying to cram 10 different things into one video, otherwise it could get overwhelming.
2. Create videos someone would save and refer back to
Saves on Instagram are a super-like with the algorithm right now. You want to create content people will save and come back to because it’s THAT valuable. Take for example hair styles/nail inspo on Instagram. If you’re anything like me, you always go to your hair or nail appointment with some sort of cut/colour in mind. I usually bring a photo that I’ve found on Instagram to show my hair dresser or nail tech. What about quotes and captions that you see on Instagram? Again, if you’re anything like me you’ve probably got a bunch of them saved because you’d like to read them again. Creating content someone would want to save will help you get more reach and views!
3. Think of what you send to your friends
Instagram is a SOCIAL media platform after all, so you want to create content that encourages people to socialize and send posts to their friends. Maybe you’re super funny and can make reels that will make people laugh. Maybe you’re relatable, or offering some really good tips that people feel inclined to share. Think of what you typically send to your friends, and try to create content that someone else would want to share!
